now we know not all router can be used with PenangFON as titled. right now you got money but maybe also running out of stock for "modified d-link router". ok, now we continue our discussion how to tackle it.

suggestion on IEEE 802.1X authentication that PenangFON implement if you want to share the connection:
1. use a old pc ack as router. as XP/Vista support IEEE 802.1X authentication, buy another network card install to link your router or other computers.

yo~ plz share result if anyone here already tested or any others better solution. thx

NCLiang,

I guess Penangfon can be used -- 802.1x 动态IP   means dynamic IP

don't use 静态,  it is means static IP

actually for those who have a desktop , you can actually plug in a usb wifi adapter.

creating a adhoc wireless could share the internet wirelessly around your house  too

if only single pc online, direct connect penangfon cat5 cable without any modem/router.
but now here we discuss how to share the connection, so the finding are either get d-link from penangfon or a desktopPC ack as router.
then either share via second nic connection or usb connection.

or any expert here got third party firmware can modified any brand router to add support IEEE 802.1X authentication?

hi DJlah

if you dun have a second NIC, better buy a router , save energy and desktop don't have to ON 24 hours just to connect to internet

if re-route through DESKTOp , it must always ON lo

like me, soon or later I will buy the RM160 router also . more convenient

1 more issue to share with you guys, if u ever wanted to use between 1 laptop and 1 pc and you do not wanted to do all the hassle to route the IP, please remember to unplug the RJ-45 and wait for 5 mins before plug into your pc as their system need to refresh and disconnect the line for you from the server. If you plugged in before 5 min then most probably the server will locked you up and you wont be able to use it at your pc. This is added security from them ( troublesome) as mine just locked out yesterday night when i trying to dot he setting on my pc. Why didn't their cable-guy tell us. They are the one who come and install everything for us. I call Mr. Ong and he say will ask his technician to refresh for me manually but in the end still can't. he say he will send his technician to my house today to confirm, what the hell ..trying to earn my RM40 labour fee?? When i asked him about the router he didn't mention no stock. So weird.
